Most theories on how the moon formed involve a giant impact of some kind. After an analysis of fluids, and electrically conducting fluids, they came ot the decision earth must hae been magnetised prior to the impact – or as a result of the impact. If this is true, we are told, where did earth’s magnetic filed come from, and how far back does it go? One to get the electric universe people excited. See https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2120682119 ..
Over at https://phys.org/news/2022-11-polarized-x-rays-reveal-extremely-hot.html … which is derived from https://doi.org/10.1126/science.add5399 … polarised X-rays reveal the shape and orientation of extremely hot matter around a black hole in Cygnus X-1 system. Fascinated by black holes, astronomers are seeking to pin them down and discover how they might form. They have discovered extremely hot matter, possibly plasma, surrounding what they think might be a black hole. It sounds, we might guess, somewhat like a super size flare – of galactic proportions. Perhaps. That is guesswork and non-science. What else might it be? A black hole, the sort of thing that gripped the imagination of schoolboys a couple of decades ago.
At https://phys.org/news/2022-11-combining-neutrons-x-ray-imaging-scientists.html … is on the study of meteorites, combining neutrons and X-ray imaging, in order to explore how earth aquired water. Interesting research.
