Mathematics Carve-Up

At https://www.quantamagazine.org/two-students-unravel-a-widely-believed-math-conjecture-20230810/ … the work was posted at the pre-print server https://arxiv.org … with the purpose of encouraging other mathematicians to look at it and test their findings. The research has exposed a crack in the foundation of other math conjectures. That sounds like a novel way of saying paradigms. They were widely accepted conjectures – or, as the fist link says, beliefs. One sceintist remarks – we are talking about number theory. The meat and gravy of mathematics.  Meat and gravy it might be – but now they have a  touch of seasoning.
