Away from the invisible into the visible. At https://cosmosmagazine.com/space/astronomy/giant-structure-space-universe/ …. here we have a colossal structure in space – 1.3 billion light years across. An almost perfect ring of galaxies – a circle of them. It has been named the Big Ring. A couple of years ago another structure was discovered – a giant arc of galaxies. That is 3.3 billion light years across. Neither structure is easy to explain in our current understanding of the universe, we are told.
At https://phys.org/news/2024-05-scientists-huge-magnetic-toroids-milky.html … scientists discover huge magnetic toroids in the Milky Way halo. No mention of the electro size of the equation. We are told the origin and evolution of cosmic magnetic fields is a longstanding unsolved question. In the words of mainstream. Away from mainstream there are a lot of ideas floating around – but they usually involve plasma or electro-magnetism. However, the link goes on to say Dr Xu Jin and Han Jinlin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, say the large magnetic toroids in the halo of the Milky Way are fundamental to cosmic ray propagation, and are part of the physical processes in the interstellar medium. This then leads to cosmic magnetic fields … and so on. See the full paper at https://doi.org/10.3847/1538-4357/ad3a61 …
At https://phys.org/news/2024-05-reveals-diffuse-aurora-formation-dominated.html … research is said to reveal the cause of diffuse aurora formation dominated by chorus waves. Again, a Chinese research team. Diffuse auroras play a crucial role in energising the polar ionosphere and represent a strong coupling mechanism between the Earth’s magnetosphere and ionosphere. They arise from the collision of electrons with atmospheric molecules after plasma waves in the magnetosphere scatter the electrons.
At https://phys.org/news/2024-05-aurora-expert-electric-rainbow.html … what causes the different colours of the aurora. It is an electric rainbow, we are told. Auroras are caused by charged subatomic particles, mostly electrons, entering Earth’s atmosphere.
