Atmospheric tides on Mars

At www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?release=2013-201&cid=release_2013-201 … the NASA spacecraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has discovered that temperatures in the atmosphere of Mars regularly rise and fall twice a day. Temperatures rising as much as 58 degrees Fahrenheit in the odd, twice a day, pattern. The research has been written up for publication in Geophysical Research Letters.

Glopbal oscillations of wind, temperatures and pressure, are known as atmospheric tides and the search for what causes these twice day events has been been found,l it is alleged, in water-ice clouds. This appears to contradict the idea Mars is a cold and dry planet when in fact there is quite a bit of water vapour in the Martian atmosphere.
