This is a story that appeared a couple of years ago, but Fortean Times and Paul Devereux raised the issue once again. At www.forteantimes.com/strangedays/archaeology/3748/spirals_underground … Paul Devereux, making use of a post at Stone Pages a while back, brings our attention to a megalithic tomb on Sardinia – known as the 'Chequered Tomb'. A set of huge bull's horns are carved on the long side of the main chamber and some bright red spirals are painted in a side cell. The spirals are reminiscent, it is thought, of motifs from the Boyne Valley in Ireland – and Atlantic Europe in general.
