star behaving badly

At http://phys.org/print367654055.html … the mysterious dimming of the star KIC 8462852 is taxing the brains and imaginations of astronomers. It has been suggested a catastrophic collision was to blame, or dusty clouds of debris, or even a family of comets breaking apart, or alien megastructures built to take out the star's energy (sucking it out for a vast  planetary electric grid perhaps). The speculation and the object of the mystery can be seen at Astronomical Journal Letters 814 and the press release comes from Iowa State University. No mention of a munching black hole in the press blurb. Is that idea now fading out? After all a lurking black hole in attack mode in the nether regions of the star seems as likely as the other ideas. On the other hand the Electric Universe model would probably have a quite rational explanation.
