Dogocene

At https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/02/21/start-of-dog-ocene-dated-to-at-le… …. the title of this piece, the start of the dogocene is dated 'at least' 28,500 years ago. The dogocene = the emergence of domesticated canids (whether from  wolves or what). This date derives from a set of teeth from the Czech Republic which suggests two sets of canids, one dog like and the other, wolf like. This is consistent with the domestication of dogs and the emergence of a genetic shift. The research was published in the Journal of Archaeological Science, and involved a professor of anthropology. Canids are mammals of the dog family and dog domestication is considered to be the earliest example of animal husbandry. Estimates for domestication of the dog have varied between 40,000 and 15,000 years ago – a date that covers the whole of the Late Palaeolithic period (the arrival of modern humans in Europe). Is it an accident that these dates hover around the 40 to 30,000 year mark, when an 'event' occurred which involved a mass die off of Pleistocene animals and the disappearance of hominins such as Neanderthals. Might the dogocene be linked to this event – dogs evolving close to the emergence of modern humans (replacing Neanderthals across Europe and western Asia and Denisovans across most of eastern Asia).
