Adrian Gilbert: Alchemy: The Secret Science
The image of the alchemist as a deluded fool who thought he could use basic chemistry to turn lead into gold is what most people think of when they hear the word alchemy. However is this the truth? Were alchemists really on a pointless quest or did they know something that has since been forgotten?
In this talk I want to take us to the origins of alchemy, from before the current scientific paradigm closed the doors of our minds on a forgotten art. For the alchemists of old operated with a different mindset from us today. Accordingly, we should maybe take their work more seriously as we seek to progress our own science into its next chapter.
Nick Thom: Making Sense of the Dark Ages
The ground I will be covering has been well trodden, by the likes of Immanuel Velikovsky and David Rohl, but remains an area where revisionists have so far failed to shift the opinions of most mainstream historians.
