Stevie Goddard is on something of a roll. He now has a post that is simple and easy for anyone to understand – as long as they have an open mind (but how many of us have that). The title, 'History of How the Hockey Stick was Manufactured' probably says it all – and will cause large numbers of people to give it a miss. I don't want to know. It's something we all might say when faced by something unpalatable – see http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/history-of-how-this-fraud-…
How did the Team get rid of the Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age is old news – but how did they get rid of the warming of the 1920s and 1930s, or the cold spat in the 1950s and 1960s. Grandparents might remember the latter but not many old farts would remember the balmy inter-war years. The Team even disposed of some uncomfortable tree ring data – it did a disappearing trick, a Tommy Cooper moment in climate science. With a flourish Goddard reinstates the missing tree rings, and guess what – a dip. Is that why it was considered unsuitable, misleading, not quite right, or whatever was going on in their heads.
