Lovely piece by Rens van der Sluijs on the difference there might be or not be between conventional science and traditional cosmology/ mythology. See www.thunderbolts.info/wp/daily-tpod/traditions-of-science/ dec 18th 2012. Conventional is supposed to continually reinvent itself following new insights – and traditional cosmology is generally thought to be static and looking backwareds in time. However, conventional can become extremely dogmatic and loathe to shift itself from a consensus position while traditional cosmology, even mythology, can change when a similar event happens and provides a new perspective. This situation is described in Mike Baillie, The Celtic Gods, for example, and one can imagine tribal story tellers, or weavers of old tales, adding or deleting depending on their own experiences.
