Stephen Smith may have a mechanism, loosely described, to explain the heat found on Pluto – following a query from an SIS member. Heat and temperature gradients have been found on the outer planets (such as Neptune) located above the polar regions. Hot spots can also be seen in the atmosphere of Neptune. Similar heat has been witnessed from spacecraft monitoring Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, Io and Enceladus etc.
