A Tale of Two Stratospheres

Climate change

At http://spaceweather.com (clink link to 24th May 2018) we have a tale of two stratospheres. Lunar eclipses are brief but they allow scientists to see the upper atmosphere clearly. At the Global Monitoring annual conference in Boulder, Colorado, two new results were announed after analysis of two decades of lunar eclipse monitoring. The stratsophere is as clear as it has been for decades – there are very few aerosols up there. This is important, we are informed, as it is the stratosphere that allows sunlight in to warm the Earth at the surface. In order to illustrate the past situation, a lunar eclipse in 1992, a year after the Pinatubo volcanic eruption, the stratosphere was messy. However, since 1995 volcanoes have been few and far between and this has allowed much more sunlight to penetrate down to the surface, the equivalent of a warming of 1 to 2 tenths of a degree Celsius. In other words, over the past 40 years the lack of aerosols in the upper atmosphere has had a warming effect on the Earth. Global satellite records show an increase in warming of 3 tenths of a degree (0.3 Celsius). The implication here is that if co2 has played a role over the same period of time it is as little as one tenth of a degree. This implies in the strongest way that something else is driving climate change alarmism – it is not the temperatures. We may wonder if it is worth spending billions of £ and $ in order to virtue signal in support of the super rich schemes dreamt up by already super rich elites in the western world. Could that money not be better spent elsewhere? Just how many brown paper envelopes are passed between the super rich and the NGOs in order to keep the alarmism on track – and why do alarmist graphs of warming temperatures always begin at a very cold decade in the past (as the Earth was coming out of the Little Ice Age). This smacks of blatant propagandising – for nefarious reasons that are being hidden from the proles. Most people have of course switched off their attention faculties when it comes to media hyping global warming and climate change – but the constant barrage of false evidence lies lodged in the mind and this is what it is all about. They have built up a reservoir of false information inside our heads – and we remember this when there is an unusual weather event (and put two and two together and make five).
