At http://spaceweather.com (June 20th 2018) we have frozen lightning spotted over Scotland (the island of Lewis to be exact). These are noctilucent clouds – ethereal bands that have the appearance of frozen lightning.
… NASAs AIM satellite confirmed the noctilucent clouds formed at the edge of space and are now spiralling out of the Arctic into northern Europe and Canada. The structures are created at low temperatures – 100 degrees below zero, and use meteor dust as seed. They form when wisps of water vapour rise to the top of the atmosphere and wrap themselves around specks of 'meteor smoke' and high altitude winds then gather the crystals together into electric blue formations.
Meanwhile, there is a fast growing sun spot on the face of the Sun. It has quadrupled in size within 24 hours.
Thirdly, the Martian dust storm is now a global event (or is circling Mars). The storms swallowed NASAs Opportunity Rover robot (silencing it) last week. Now, the dust cloud encircles the whole of Mars. Curiosity Rover is still functioning (it is nucear powered) and has reported on the opacity of the sky – which has double in intensisty over the weekend.
