At http://spaceweather.com (August 6th, 2018) the annual Perseid meteor shower is under way. Each year the Earth passes through a stream of debris left behind by the passage of Comet Swift Tuttle. At its peak up to 100 meteors an hour are expected.

At this time atmospheric co2 was 100ppm lower – at 310ppm as opposed to 410ppm. Heat waves were as frequent if not more frequent – but what is not said is that there are more people – and more people living in remote locations in states such as California. Humans are mainly responsible for wild fires – but heat waves have occurred periodically.

The Very Large Array telecope has discovered a planet sized object with a surprisingly powerful magnetic field (see also https://public.nrao.edu/news/planetary-mass-powerhouse ). It is twelve times more massive than Jupiter and travels through space unaccomapanied by a parent star. Is it a planet – or a brown dwarf?
