Garys also sent in this link to www.theguardian.com/science/2019/aug/06/tardigrades-may-have-survived-sp… … which appears to be another manifestation of journalistic alarmism – humans setting loose life on the moon (and perhaps not a desirable form of life). The Israeli Beresheet probe, a lander, crash landed on the moon's surface – and it was carrying a cargo of tardigrades. These are a millimetre in length and resemble eight legged maggots in appearance – but apparently aren't squelchy (but rather formidable when it comes to survival in hostile environments). The story speculates they might have survived the crash – and may go on to thrive. The same story is at https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/08/10/a-crashed-israeli-lunar-lander-sp… … where the comments are ripe.
