You pick up little things by reading lots of stuff, most of which is not out of the ordinary. In the SEPP newsletter of December 30th 2023, page 10, there was a little paragraph tucked away. Submarine volcanic activity can be confusing, we are told, especially in the Pacific. It differs from El Nino warming of the ocean surface but it can fool even the most diligent of scientists. It can also give rise to alarm mongering. A submarine volcano in the Atlantic, near to the Canary Islands, dramatically warmed a small area of the ocean thereabouts.
