Robert sent in some interesting links to share amongst readers. At https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTNkZjqRwPw&ab_channel=LPPFusion … which is a presentation by Eric Lerner on the so called ‘Big Ring’. At https://www.iflscience.com/2-meter-tall-terror-birds-may-have-been-antarcticas-apex-predators-50-million-years-ago-73356 … but note the word MAY in the title. The blue spot story is at https://www.space.com/jupiter-great-blue-spot-time-changing-jet-why … which is perhaps the most interesting link.
Robert also looked at the Mars gravity influence story, which he says is a wild claim. He asks, if the sedimentary rock record is a record of the passage of time how would you measure a hiatus? Also, how would you measure a gap in the sediments dredged up in a drilling operation.
The terror birds in the Antarctic are said to date back not to the dinosaur age but to the Eocene. The fossils were found on Seymour Island rather than continental Antarctica – and the idea they were carnivores was because they had 3 inch long fossilised claws. They are presumed to belong to the extinct family of Phorusphacidae, who were it seems, very fast and active carnivores. However, the IFL author makes the point the claws cannot be positively placed within the family of Phorusphacidae. Indeed, the story is itself projection as only a set of claws was discovered There was no fossilised bird – yet alone a terrorising bird. It seems the Antarctic islands undergo erosion on a regular basis and each year new fossils are found.
The link to the Great Blue Spot refers to an atmospheric jet that every 4 years fluctuates like a wave. The question is why. The blue spot itself is an intense area of magnetism [are they missing the front bit, electro?]. This is located near Jupiter’s equator. In fact, it has been likened to a second south pole poking out of the planet’s midriff area. It seems it has an effect on the atmospheric jet.
