At https://www.sciencealert.com/researchers-claim-long-lost-technology-used-to-build-iconic-pyramid-of-djoser … pyramids have fascinated generations of people down the years. Sometimes the theories are odd. I’ll leave you to decide how odd this one might be. The step pyramid is tall and stands out in the necropolis of Saqqara. Current opinion is that it was built around 2600BC -or a little earlier. There is an image of the central shaft at the link – on the bottom of which is the Kings Chamber. The step pyramid is the first in what became a long line of stone structures and clearly displays evidence of engineering ingenuity. New resarch, led by Xaview Landreau, may have discovered a clue, we are told. Basically, the new claim is that a water powered lift helped move materials used in the construction of the pyramid.
