At https://phys.org/news/2024-09-hubble-black-hole-stellar-eruptions.html ….Hubble discovers that a black hole beam prompts stellar eruptions as it streams through the galaxy. Astronomers using the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope have discovered a jet of plasma from a supermassive black hole at the core of a very large galaxy seems to cause stars to erupt along its trajectory.
The research is published on the arXiv pre-print server so may be modified later. See it now at https://doi.org/10.48550/arxiv.2309.16856 … or the pdf at https://arxiv.org/pdf/2309.16856 … researchers are now looking for an explanation. They could of course read Don Scott’s book, ‘Interconnected Cosmos‘ – available to buy on this website. Nevertheless, the lead author, Alec Lessing, said we don’t know what is going on but it is exciting. Something is missing from our understanding of how black hole jets interact with their surroundings. The jet seems to instigate what they say are novae in stars in which the beam passes by on its way out into space. The role of plasma in the solar wind is also inciting outbursts in our solar system and may provide a clue – but it is of course much smaller in scale than a galaxy fed jet.
