Astronomy, Electromagnetism

At https://spaceweather.com … October 3rd 2024 … A CME is heading towards the Earth following the powerful X7.1 class solar flare of October 1st. . A NOAA model predicts it will arrive tomorrow, October 4th. It has the potential to create a strong G3 class geomagnetic storm. It comes courtesy of sunspot AR3842 which exploded again today, the 3rd of October. This produced the strongest solar flare of Solar Cycle 25 so far. Radiation from the flare ionised the top of the atmosphere and caused a deep shortwave radio black out over Africa and the South Atlantic. This CME will strike Earth on the 6th – adding to the effects of the earlier one. Auroras are therefore likely over the weekend. Stay tuned.
