Jupiter’s Poles

Robert sent in a couple of links https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/11/241126135634.htm … and https://phys.org/news/2024-11-magnetically-driven-vortices-generating-earth.html … spots have been noticed at both poles of Jupiter, appearing, and later, disappearing. The ovals, visible at ultraviolet wavelengths, are embedded in layers of stratospheric haze. They are located just below the bright oval zones at each pole, north and south. We are told they hint at unusual processes taking place in Jupiter’s strong magnetic field. They propagate deep into the atmosphere and the ovals appear to be stirred up by a vortex created by the planet’s magnetic field lines – in the ionosphere.

Robert comments by saying there is a definite connection to the Jovian magnetosphere, it would seem, and NUDOs nd SUDOs are contained within Jupiter’s auroral circle. The authors actually compare a SUDO with a tornado touching down on dry ground. In this case, they originate above the ionosphere, presumably as a result of a Birkland current connection to Jupiter’s magnetosphere. Robert says that Jupiter, in that instance, is powered externally – but more research is required.
